Grounding of Boeing 737 Max aircraft (737 Max 800 and Max 900 planes)

A note from University Disbursement Services Associate Controller Randy Staples:

The overall impact to UF travelers should be minimal given the relatively small number of Boeing 737 Max aircraft in U.S. fleets. Delta does not fly the grounded planes. Southwest Airlines has 34 Max 8s, and American has 24. United does not fly the Max 8, but it does fly 14 Max 9s. You can check your purchased ticket to determine if you are scheduled to fly a grounded plane.

If you are booked on a Boeing 737 Max aircraft, the airline will contact you directly to communicate changes. It will be best to let the airlines rebook your ticket for a number of reasons. The airline may substitute another aircraft and keep the flight scheduled as expected. If not, the airlines will cover any fees to rebook, even if on another airline. If you cancel, you may incur change fees.
