Creating a culture of continuous improvement

mike mckee headshotHere in the Office of the CFO, we’re always looking for ways to improve our business processes in service to the UF community.

In spring 2018, we embarked on a multiyear strategic planning process with the long-term priorities of streamlining and improving our processes, strengthening campus financial skills and knowledge, improving communication with campus, cultivating talent, and enhancing customer service. Some of the results of these efforts include the Collaboration for Continuous Improvement (CCI), a new and improved Finance & Accounting website, a new course called “Fiscal Responsibility for Leaders at UF,” and enhanced training guides and resources. I’m proud of what we have accomplished together so far and am looking forward to additional progress in the months to come.

This issue of CFO Advisor features stories about the CCI, formerly known as the “Lean Team”; updates on the myUF Marketplace project, which goes live Oct. 28; an update to UF’s Carryforward Expenditure Policy and more.

I hope you enjoy the issue and that you will feel free to reach out to me at cfo@ufl.edu with any feedback you have. I know that countless people have been involved in making our new strategic priorities a reality. Thank you for all of your efforts and dedication.

Go Gators!
