In an effort to develop a consistent and clear view of operational activity and performance across the University, the CFO’s office is undertaking the Radical Financial Transparency initiative. Through this project, the University will thoroughly evaluate operational, financial, and academic metrics for all administrative, auxiliary, and academic units in an objective manner. The initiative will also include various enterprise-wide, University-level evaluations related to the University’s operational, financial, and organizational effectiveness more broadly, covering areas such as benefits, space utilization, and procurement and sourcing. This initiative will enhance transparency and visibility into how University resources are deployed, provide insights for University Leadership about funds usage and opportunities for enhanced efficiencies or greater investment, and better enable internal resource prioritization investment decisions. From a unit-level perspective, this initiative is intended to equip academic and administrative leaders with objective data to manage their organization’s finances and operations more effectively.
By the end of June 2024, the Radical Financial Transparency team will have completed a deep-dive assessment of ten of the University’s units, which were selected to represent a diverse set of UF academics and operations. Later this year, this assessment will be rolled out to and completed for all remaining academic, auxiliary, and academic units.
